Sophin Liu

Sophin Liu is a part-time lecturer at UC San Diego, where she teaches Statistics and Probability Using Python. Outside the classroom, Sophin is Associate Director of Advanced Analytics at BioMarin Pharmaceutical, a global biotechnology company focused on developing therapies for rare and ultra-rare conditions, including achondroplasia. Her work spans commercial analytics, machine learning, and patient-level data science, with a focus on translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.

Sophin holds a Master of Science in Information Management from the University of Washington, with specializations in data science and business intelligence, as well as an MBA from the University of Missouri with a specialization in marketing.
